Red Stripe presents Reggae Sumfest, which kicks off on Sunday, July 16 with a Beach Party, then moves into the Sumfest Sunset Yacht Party on Monday, July 17. Mavado has enjoyed resurgence lately with tracks such as Beat and Teach, Money and Girls and Fun, Big League and Way We Roll from the 4th Floor Riddim. Mavado's hit track, Progress, was featured on DJ Khaled's 2016 album - Major Keys - which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 Pop Albums Chart. When asked about his musical style, Lanez describes his music as "swavey", which he describes as a genre of music that fuses different genres and styles together.ĭancehall artiste Mavado is also set to blaze the Sumfest stage following a good recent run of success. Tory Lanez has also had recent collaborations with dancehall artiste Kranium ( We Can), which has been getting rave reviews and heavy rotation on the airwaves since its release. Following the release of his debut studio album I Told You in 2016, Tory Lanez was nominated for a number of awards, including BET and Soul Train Music Awards' Best New Artiste 2016 and Best International Act at the 2016 MOBO Awards. Luv was nominated for Best R&B Song at the recent Grammy Awards. His link to Jamaica is unquestioned in his music, as is apparent with his mega hit, Luv, which samples Jamaican dancehall duo Tanto Metro and Devonte.
His parents are Caribbean natives, with his father hailing from Barbados and his mother from Curacao. Tory Lanez has had a strong link with Jamaica and the Caribbean, through his music and parentage. Both have enjoyed great recent success and I believe fans of the festival will be excited to see them," said Bogdanovich.

Lanez and Mavado are expected to appear on the show on Night 1, Saturday, July 22, inside the Catherine Hall Complex, Montego Bay. Downsound Entertainment, organisers of Reggae Sumfest, has announced that reggae-inspired artiste Tory Lanez and dancehall heavyweight Mavado are the latest additions to the 25th staging of the festival, set for July 16-22.
